On August 11 and 12, our community celebrated one of the most important events of the year: the Feast of the Assumption. This celebration started 40 years ago, when the Italian immigrants in the area wanted to keep this beautiful tradition to honour our Blessed Mother.

Over the years, things have changed: people moved out of the area, new ones have joined the parish. Thus, this event has become a true mirror of our community's multicultural flavour.
For the last couple of years, on the Saturday prior the Feast Day, right after the 7:00pm Mass many people attend the living rosary. This year we also had a candlelight procession.

The devotion and zeal of people were very much alive, especially during the recitation of the rosary in different languages.

On Sunday, August 12, the whole community got together for the celebration of a Solemn Mass at 3:30pm.

Outside the rain was coming down very hard, and many of those present were wondering what to do after Mass. Amazingly, the rain stopped at 4:30pm; so we were able to come out of the church with no problems and walk in the streets of the parish, by carrying the statue of the Blessed Mother.

After the crowning that took place in the parking lot, the procession ended in church with the recitation of the prayer to the Assumption and the blessing of the many children present throughout the various events of the day.

This concluded the spiriual part of the feast.
Upon leaving the church, many people went back to the parking lot to enjoy music, games and musical entertainment, until 10:30pm.
The evening was a beautiful one, and the rain actually made the temperature even more pleasant. It was time to catch up with old friends, to make some new ones, and enjoy an evening of laughter and dancing.
These are the simple moments we like to share! This is what we call it baing a family!
