Saint Paschal Baylon Church

During the second half of the month of January, a special event interested the whole Archdiocese of Toronto, as well as our Parish. The pilgrimage of the Ark of the New Covenant stopped for a day at our community, to remind us of the upcoming International Eucharistic Congess in Quebec City in 2008 and the importance and centrality of the Eucharist in our Christian life.


The Ark arrived at our Church at 10:00am, on Friday January 26, and departed the following day after the 8:30am Mass. After each celebration of the Eucharist, the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament was held throughout the whole day and night.


Despite the cold weather, people attended the various celebrations and kept a beautiful atmosphere of prayer and silence.


The Ark of the New Covenant visited St. Paschal's for at least 3 reasons:
1. St. Paschal was very devoted to the Blessed Sacrament;
2. at this Church the perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament has been going on for the last 20 years;
3. and lastly but more importantly, this community has one of the biggest Youth Group in the Archdiocese of Toronto. Indeed, the Ark has visited all those churches were a youth group is strong and vibrant. We have been blessed with a good group of young people that just celebrated its 10th anniversary.




We hope that other people, especially the youth will enjoy the presence of the Ark in their own communities and grow closer to the Eucharist every day!
